hi, happy holidays
got your mail and thanks for having found time to reply
I am working on a topic .....land use land cover change, particularly with forcus on degradation and conflicts.
here am looking into the effects of policy or decision making on land use change in an agro pastoral zone(savanna and forest transition zone). how best can human decisions be simulated into land use planning for better livelhoods.

well guess i could explain myself better

take care

Good to hear from you! In Brussels last week Jocelyn Jones and I met Aksel Noerstad from Norway, who also had some great things to say about you! We went there for a meeting to plan for a big European conference on food sovereignty next year (sort of European equivalent of Nyeleni). I could send you the report of the meeting if you like.

My own things are mostly about trade, especially in commodities, and try to make the links with rural people's livelihoods. You can find several of them on my website, www.tomlines.org.uk, including a link to a recent article I wrote about the food price crisis. Longer papers are on the second page of the site, called Books and Papers, where you can download them. Or if you prefer me to send them by e-mail, please give me your address.

There is one paper I have not uploaded yet, called Commodity Dependence and Development. It was jointly published by the South Centre and Action-Aid and launched at UNCTAD XII in Accra last month. I was not its main author but I did a lot of background analysis for it. You can find it at www.southcentre.org/publications/CommodityReport/AA_SC_Commodity_Report.pdf.

My website also has information about a book which Zed Books are publishing in July, called Making Poverty: A History.

I hope you find something of interest there!

Best wishes,
Tom (tlines@globalnet.co.uk)
