WorldFamily

Global Community

World Family is inspired by Olaseinde Arigbede - respected doctor, neuroscientist and smallholder in Nigeria. We come together to take action to create a world where all have access to that necessary for a life of dignity and fulfillment.

Introduction & Links

WorldFamily is working to build a new future globally. We are a solidarity organisation between the Global North and the South. Our largest membership is in West Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon and The Gambia. We are working people, smallholder farmers, students, women, youth and elders working to promote food security, cultural integrity, social justice, sustainable livelihoods and the empowerment of women and youth.

We believe in and practise natural development, we are against the agro-industrial pollution and perversion of nature and we resist the imposition of ideas, economic structures and restrictive trade practices of the North upon the Global South.

We are WorldFamily.

If working in true international grassroots collaborations excites you, join us.

US Website: http://myworldfamily.org/

UK based Website (still under construction)http://www.worldfamily.org.uk/

Now also on Facebook:

The aim of the UK site will be to introduce World Family and each of our partners, to explain what we are about, and to offer opportunities to get involved actively, including donations and the raising of funds for many initiatives internationally. It will be fully operational as soon as we can manage it.

In the UK and the USA we are few in number and urgently need more proactive members, not “to help” but people who seek an outlet for doing what they love in support of a compatible global vision. If this is you, please contact either Louis or Jocelyn in the UK (early member pages) or Seyifunmi in the USA

GMO in Nigeria

Here is a link to an article from All Africa about the Nigerian government embracing GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the opposition for groups including Environmental Rights Action. I am not sure of how the role of USAID here relates to food sovereignty, as many of their programmes are about producing food for export.

My Thoughts on the 2008 Presidential Campaign

The 2008 Presidential Campaign
By Frank T. Scruggs, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate
May 2008

Needless to say, the 2008 campaign for the Presidency of the United States is an unprecedented historical event. In this particular race, the campaign itself has come to be a symbolic race of the previously disenfranchised; blacks and women to the pinnacle of government leadership. The image of the President of the United States has moved beyond a white males only club to a genuinely open contest.

The ascension… Continue
